Animal Care and Control is a community responsibility.

Your local Humane Society cannot do it all.

    We want you to know:

    • We do not get tax dollars from any level of government nor does the SDHS get "paid" to do our work in the community
    • We rely totally on fundraising efforts and donations from members of our community
    • We do not have a large shelter facility, we rely on foster homes who volunteer to look after our animals
    • Some pets ready for adoption or needing daily medical care our housed on our site at 24 Grigg Drive, Simcoe.
    • Volunteers clean, feed and maintain the animals daily - We do not have ANY paid staff
    • Food, supplies, vet care, advertising etc. for each animal is covered by the SDHS while the animal is in care

To become part of the solution you can:

    • Be a responsible pet owner and spay and neuter your pet
    • Help the overpopulation promblem in the community ~ spay or neuter that stray outdoors
    • Become a member of the Simcoe and District Humane Society and volunteer to help
    • Become a foster care provider for a rescued animal until they are ready for adoption (little or no cost to you)
    • Donate supplies or money
    • Sponsor an Adopt-A-Pet Ad in the Local Paper
    • Adopt a Rescued Animal into your family so that a space is available for the next animal in need of care
