    Volunteer Orientation ~ November 12, 2011 9am at the SDHS trailer for anyone interested in working in the office.

    November 12, 2011 10am - 1pm (after orientation) and

    November 13, 2011 10am - 1pm

    Both training days must be attended!

    November 19, 2011 8am - 1pm (after orientation) and

    November 20, 2011 7am - 1pm

    Both training days must be attended!

    This is a great opportunity for students to pick up community service hours on the weekends!

    Orientations and training for other positions will be coming up soon!

      

    We also need:

    • 10 volunteers to work 1 or more days/week 7:30am - noon (approximately) cleaning kennels and feeding animals
    • 7 volunteers to work 1 day/week (or more) 11am - 1pm doing dishes and washing litter pans 
    •  10 volunteers to work 1 shift/week or more - 11am - 3pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9am - 3pm answering phones, facilitating adoptions, dealing with clients
    • 5 volunteers to mow lawn, clean up property, keep storage trailer tidy and general clean up 1 day a week/month
    • 5 volunteers to share laundry duties 1 day a week/month

    We are also looking for a volunteer who will manage the office and office volunteers: work with the database, keep shelter records and receipts.

    Cruelty Complaints

    At this time, Norfolk County OPP investigate acts of Cruelty or Neglect throughout Norfolk County.

    In Norfolk County contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122

    If you would like to report an act of cruelty to the OSPCA please contact 1-888-668-7722 (for emergencies during weekends or evenings dial ext. 1) or click here to send an email.

    If you are witnessing an act of Cruelty or an animal is in immediate distress due to an act of Cruelty, please contact your local police department.

    Although Norfolk County OPP conduct animal cruelty investigations throughout the area, Simcoe and District Humane Society helps with the care, treatment and housing of animals when requested. As with all programs within the Society, the cost of care for these animals is not covered by any level of government or other organization. SDHS relies on fundraising efforts and donations from the community while helping the animals.
