Remembering a Friend ~ Margie Grant

Margie Grant, was a dear friend not only to all the volunteers, past and present of Simcoe and Simcoe District Humane Society but a friend to all the animals.

Margie served well over 40 years in the Society in many roles including President, Director, Secretary, member and volunteer giving many hours organizing activities of the Society and her special love ~ the annual Children's Pet Show, which she coordinated for many years. It is a great loss to the Simcoe and District Humane Society and to members and Board members who depended on her support, expertise and knowledge.

Margie was granted many volunteer achievement awards during her years with the Society and was awarded her "Life Membership" over 20 years ago. Her support for the work of the Society never waivered.

Her love for the animals showed in every way especially if there was a special 4 legged friend who needed extra care and a special home. Lady was her last "foster" dog, who found love, attention and a special solace until the end with a very special person.

Margie would want us to do everything in our power to make the SDHS a strong and viable organization in our community and surrounding areas.

We will miss you Margie, rest now with your furry angel friends.

At this time, Norfolk County OPP investigate acts of Cruelty or Neglect throughout Norfolk County.

In Norfolk County contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122

If you would like to report an act of cruelty to the OSPCA please contact 1-888-668-7722 (for emergencies during weekends or evenings dial ext. 1) or click here to send an email.

If you are witnessing an act of Cruelty or an animal is in immediate distress due to an act of Cruelty, please contact your local police department.

Although Norfolk County OPP conduct animal cruelty investigations throughout the area, Simcoe and District Humane Society helps with the care, treatment and housing of animals when requested. As with all programs within the Society, the cost of care for these animals is not covered by any level of government or other organization. SDHS relies on fundraising efforts and donations from the community while helping the animals.
